PANAJI: The Goa Government on Sunday felicitated the family members of four organ donors, which saved 16 lives.
Governor P.S.Sreedharan Pillai was the Chief Guest for the function attended by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and GMC Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar amongst many others.
The family members of Praduman Soni, Angad Saroj, Vishram Redekar, and Sheela Do Carmo Da Rocha Machado Moraes were felicitated by governor P S Sreedharan Pillai, at Durbar Hall Raj Bhavan.
The Governor lauded the efforts of Health Minister, GMC Dean and others in creating teh required infrastructure.
“It was heart-warming to witness the courage and strength displayed by organ donor families. Today, we had the privilege of facilitating them at the #NamanDiwas event organized by GMC and SOTTO,” said Rane. The speech delivered by Sherin Moraes, the daughter of the deceased Sheela Moraes, who chose to donate her mother’s organs despite their own grief, to give the gift of life to someone in need, was profoundly touching, he said.
“It illuminated how challenging it can be to make such a decision, he said.
Rane said that in the 99th episode of Mann Ki Baat, the PM emphasized the importance of organ donation.
“In alignment with his vision, we wholeheartedly support these remarkable organ donor families. Their selflessness and compassion serve as an inspiration for all of us to become better, more caring individuals,” he said.
Rane stated that when we unite, we can make a significant impact—saving more lives, spreading more smiles, and uniting more families. Let’s all say ‘YES’ to organ donation.
“I express my heartfelt gratitude to our Hon’ble Chief Guest, Governor of Goa @psspillaigov, who graced the Naman Diwas celebrations with his presence. On the occasion of #NamanDiwas, I discussed with him various matters related to the state including the vision of making Goa a leading state in the field of organ donation and transplantation and other initiatives aimed at advancing the medical facilities and healthcare services in Goa,” said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
He said the support and kind words have added great importance to this momentous occasion.
