PANAJI: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that Hop-on and Hop-off bus service will resume in December.
“After a tender process, GTDC has already agreed with an operator to conduct the service. This service is expected to be re-launched by December this year,” said Khaunte.
He further said that after the pilot run of the Hop-on Hop-off bus and amphibian vessel, it was observed that there are feasibility-related issues with operating these proposed services individually.
“Unless a comprehensive mobility solution offering a unique experience is proposed, each of these services will have a limited number of customers, affecting the overall viability. In this regard, this service is now bundled along with two similar services, viz. Hop-on Hop-off and Public Transportation Devices along with chalking out an effective implementation plan,” he added.
Khaunte also said that queries raised by Goa Congress President Amit Patkar stem from ignorance of facts and knowledge of the tourism sector.
“Queries raised by Goa Congress President Amit Patkar stems from ignorance of facts and knowledge of tourism sector and that he was making baseless and unsubstantiated remarks against Goa Tourism department,” said Khaunte.
Khaunte said that it is hardly six months since he took over as the Tourism Minister and has put the entire tourism machinery on the job for reviewing, implementing and working on new initiatives to take Goa Tourism to new heights in the coming years.
“Department of Tourism & Goa Tourism Development Corporation are working together along with various experts and agencies to step up and give tourism an all-new direction,” he added.
