CANACONA: Warning his detractors that people will throw Cow-dung on them (who are opposing for the sake of opposing him), Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar warned his detractors that his consistent prioritization of Canacona needs will be to strengthen core infrastructure in enhancing the quality of life for the residents will go on undeterred.
Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar was speaking after inaugurating a new 200 KVA Electricity Transformer at Chaudi, near Ruby Residency on Tuesday.
‘Underground Electricity Cabling will be completed in the coastal areas in the next two years at a cost of Rs 20 crore. Previously, the Chaudi area where this new transformer is installed was plagued by frequent power fluctuations caused by an overloaded transformer. The installation of the new 200 kVA unit will now ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply.’Tawadkar stated in the presence of CMC Chairperson Sara Shamba Naik Desai, ward councilor Ramakant Naik Gaunkar and others.
Tawadkar said, ‘The citizens of Canacona should thank the government for the work related to electricity or other developments that was otherwise not done in other parts of Goa. In Agonda panchayat alone 6 transformers were replaced. 5 transformers have been replaced in the municipal area. The electricity department is giving priority to Canacona and since the chief engineer of the electricity department, Stephen Fernandes, is the son of Canacona, the electricity-related works are being completed quickly. Now the work of KarmalGhat road will start and people will be able to reach Margao in half-an-hour and then in 1 hour to Panaji. 90 percent of the roads in Canacona have been hot-mixed’, Tawadkar said
Speaking further Tawadkar said, ‘The people of Khotigao cannot oppose me, but there are some who are opposing for the sake of opposing. There were 4 pending issues in Khotigao village and all these four issues are resolved or on the verge of completion and people will throw cow-dung on anyone who opposes for the sake of opposing me’, Tawadkar said further informing that beautification from Char-rasta to Sheller is going to be taken up in two months time.
Speaking on the occasion, ward councilor Ramakant Naik Gaonkar while praising the works being done by the MLA, the scene of people fighting out in the Gram Sabha of Khotigao should not have happened in the presence of the Speaker.’ Naik Gaunkar also thanked the Telekar family for providing land for installing the transformer.
Also present were councilors Laxuman Pagi, Simon Rebello, Pandurang (Dheeraj) Naik Gaonkar, BJP mandal president Prabhakar Gaonkar, secretary Diwakar Pagi, former BJP mandal president Vishal Desai, AAP leader land donor Sandesh Telekar, land donor Poornakant Telekar, Dr. Aman Prabhugaonkar, Babesh Borkar, Shelter Gracias, Niku Gracias and others were present.
Canacona Electricity Department Assistant Engineer Govind Bhat, Junior Engineer Chari were also present.
