VELIM: The long-awaited resurfacing of damaged roads in Dicarpalli village under the Velim Constituency has commenced, with hot mixing work now underway, bringing major relief to residents.
For years, locals endured hardships due to poor road conditions caused by repeated digging and prolonged delays. The start of the resurfacing project marks a significant step toward improving daily commute and ensuring safer travel for the community.
Speaking on the occasion, Velim MLA Cruz Silva expressed gratitude to the Government for approving the work. He highlighted that nearly 80 per cent of hot mixing works across the Velim Constituency have already been completed, while noting that certain stretches remain pending due to narrow road widths requiring special technical attention.
The current phase covers hot mixing works in Dicarpalli Panchayat and includes balance works in Sarzora and Chinchinim Panchayats within the constituency. The total estimated cost of the project stands at ₹5.5 crore, reflecting the Government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure and easing daily travel for residents.
The programme was attended by Sarpanch Menino Colaco, Sarpanch Joycee, panch members of Darvolim-Dicarpalli Panchayat, Parish Priest Fr. Joaquim Fernandes, PWD officials, and local residents, who welcomed the long-pending development.
The resurfacing initiative is expected to significantly enhance connectivity, safety, and convenience for the people of Velim, reaffirming the constituency’s continued focus on progress and community welfare.
