Pernem: Wassem Hussainsab Tajahmad (41), a resident of Newwada, Vasco, has been arrested in connection with a series of house thefts reported in Ugvem village on July 4, 2025. According to police sources, the accused allegedly broke into four separate houses and stole approximately ₹15,000 in cash.
The case came to light following a complaint filed by Vinayak Mahale, a resident of Ugvem. Preliminary investigation revealed that Tajahmad was not acting alone. His associate, Shankar Madhukar Pawar alias Hadya (24), had earlier been arrested by Pernem Police in a separate case involving assault on a taxi driver and attempted robbery in Malpe, Pernem.
Further investigation into the Ugvem thefts is ongoing. Authorities are examining possible links to other similar incidents in the region.
