COLLEM: A case of alleged arson and criminal intimidation has been reported in Collem following a complaint by Shankar Gogalekar, a resident of Dhubandora.
As per the complaint, the accused, identified as Dayanand from Halkarni, Khanapur, along with an unidentified accomplice, allegedly threatened the complainant over the phone regarding repayment of money taken for medical expenses. The matter is believed to be linked to previous enmity between the two parties.
Police stated that the accused later trespassed into the complainant’s house and set fire to a cupboard belonging to his mother. The incident resulted in damage to gold ornaments worth around Rs 2 lakh, along with clothes and other items, taking the total loss to approximately Rs 3.5 lakh.
The accused also allegedly damaged the complainant’s Pulsar motorcycle parked outside the house.
Collem Police have registered the case, and further investigation is underway under PSI Sadanand Dessai.
