PORVORIM: The House witnessed ruckus as Industries Minister Vishwajit Rane sought to postpone questions related to coal block allocation.
Following this, the United opposition entered well of the assembly, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the house till 1pm.
The question was tabled by MLAs Rohan Khaunte, Vijai Sardesai, Jayesh Salgaonkar and Vinoda Paliencar, seeking coal allocation status.
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte alleged that the state government wanted to cover the Coal Block Scam, which was the reason to postpone the question.
“The government is murdering democracy; this is nothing but a scam,” said Khaunte
United opposition parties upped their ante against the Pramod Sawant-led BJP government over undue delay on the part of the consultant, a Nagpur-based private firm, to select the MDO.
The consultant had been appointed on a nomination basis, giving a go-by to the bidding procedure to expedite the selection of an MDO. But while the appointment was made on November 4, 2020, the consultant floated a Request for Quotation nearly four months later, on March 3, 2021.
On March 30, the Goa legislative assembly witnessed noisy scenes after the ruling BJP government refused discussions in the House on allegations about the apparent delay on the part of the consultant in appointing an MDO.
