VADDEM: A major fire broke out at a house in Vaddem, opposite Pai Hospital, leaving household items completely gutted. The house, belonging to Sadanand Poojari, was engulfed in flames while the owner was away. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but the damage was extensive. Alert neighbors noticed thick black smoke billowing from the house and immediately informed Poojari and the Vasco Fire Station. Firefighters arrived promptly at the scene and managed to douse the flames, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby houses.
Speaking to reporters, Poojari expressed his shock over the incident. “I have been living here for many years, and I never expected something like this to happen. In fact, I had closed everything properly, including the cooking gas connection, before leaving for my native place this morning. I left around 9:30 AM, but then I got a call that thick smoke was coming from my house. I rushed back only to find my home on fire,” he said.
He further added, “I am not sure what caused the fire—whether it was a short circuit or something else. My clothes, household appliances, bed, and other belongings have been completely destroyed.”
The Vasco Fire Station officials confirmed that they acted swiftly to contain the blaze. “We received the alert and immediately dispatched our team. The fire was brought under control before it could spread to nearby residences,” said a fire department official.
