New Delhi:: Union Minister Piyush Goyal has asserted that the human mind will always remain superior to artificial intelligence (AI), allaying concerns about job displacement due to the rapid adoption of emerging technologies. Speaking at the ‘Future Frontier Forum’ in London on Thursday, Goyal emphasized that India sees AI as an opportunity—not a threat.
“Artificial intelligence is an area that India is absolutely going to adopt. We will integrate it into our systems and working methods. However, we do not see AI as a cause for alarm when it comes to job losses,” Goyal stated. Highlighting India’s strong technological talent pool, he stressed the need for reskilling and retraining to keep pace with advancements, rather than resisting change.
“We must open many more avenues to support global advancements in data science and AI. India is poised to become a valuable contributor in decoding the possibilities of artificial intelligence,” the minister said. He added, “Ultimately, AI is a tool created by the human mind, and it is the human intellect that will continue to guide, control, and improve it.”
Goyal’s remarks come amid growing global discourse on the implications of AI for employment, innovation, and ethics. Reassuring the audience, he said, “Most Indians believe the human mind is and will always be supreme. AI may evolve, but the ingenuity of humans will continue to surpass it. That, I am absolutely confident about.”
The Union Minister is currently on a two-day official visit to the United Kingdom, focused on strengthening trade ties and accelerating progress on the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA). His visit follows recent announcements by the Prime Ministers of both nations to conclude the much-anticipated deal.
During his visit, Goyal held high-level discussions with Rachel Reeves, UK’s newly appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer. Following the meeting, he shared on social media, “Discussed avenues for collaboration in financial frameworks, sustainable finance, and new trade opportunities to deepen the India-UK economic partnership.”
The minister also met Oliver Prill, CEO of Tide, a UK-based business financial platform. Their discussion centered on India’s rapidly expanding digital economy, with a focus on fintech innovation, digital empowerment, and SME-led growth in both countries.
With AI, fintech, and free trade agreements dominating the agenda, Goyal’s London visit signals India’s strategic intent to lead globally in both innovation and international commerce, while reinforcing confidence in the enduring value of human intelligence.
