HYDERABAD:
In exciting news for travellers, the new Secunderabad-Vasco Da Gama Express train has officially started its service, offering a direct connection between Hyderabad and Goa.
The train was launched by Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy at Secunderabad railway station.
This new twice-weekly service marks a significant improvement in travel options for people wishing to explore the beautiful state of Goa, famous for its stunning beaches and vibrant culture.
For a long time, people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have requested a direct train to Goa.
The launch of this express train fulfils that demand, making travel easier and more comfortable for tourists and regular travellers alike. Minister Reddy, during the inauguration, emphasized how this new train service will help boost tourism, not only to Goa but also to major cities in Karnataka, including Ballari, Hospet, Hubbali, and Dharwad.
This service will greatly improve connectivity in the region.
Railway Developments in Telangana During the launch, Minister Reddy also highlighted several important railway development projects happening in Telangana. One of the key projects is the redevelopment of Secunderabad railway station. With a budget of Rs 700 crore, the aim is to make the station world-class by the end of 2025. Once completed, Secunderabad station will be second only to New Delhi in the number of Vande Bharat Express trains it operates, connecting major cities across India. Another important initiative is the establishment of a railway manufacturing unit in Kazipet.
With an investment of Rs 520 crore, this new unit is expected to create around 3,000 jobs in the region. It is seen as a major boost for both the local economy and railway infrastructure. Additionally, the Cherlapalli Railway Terminal in Hyderabad is also nearing completion.
Once finished, it will provide modern and improved facilities for travelers from Hyderabad and Kacheguda.
