PANAJI: The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Goa Customs at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, seized 23.832 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis valued at around ₹8.34 crore in the illicit market and arrested five passengers in connection with the case.
According to officials, two of the passengers had arrived from Bangkok via Muscat, while another had travelled from Abu Dhabi via Muscat. They were intercepted after landing at the airport on March 25, 2026, based on passenger profiling.
During a detailed examination of their checked-in baggage, AIU officers discovered the contraband concealed inside food packets. The recovered substance was tested using an NDPS field testing kit and confirmed to be narcotic drugs.
The entire quantity of 23.832 kg hydroponic cannabis was seized and all five passengers were taken into custody under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Officials said further investigation is in progress.
The Customs Department reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and supporting the national objective of a “Nasha Mukt Bharat.”
