PORVORIM: Congress Leader Digambar Kamat today said that he was hurt and stunned by the statements made by Goa Desk Incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao during a press conference held yesterday.
“I saw a video of Dinesh Gundu Raowhich’s presser being circulated. I’m shocked & stunned; it has hurt me beyond words. Dinesh Rao was at my place on Saturday night; I told him my position then,” said Kamat.
He further said that due to humiliation towards me after the elections, my workers were angry and also deeply hurt.
“So for the time being, I said, I will not accept any responsibility. Once I’m fit, we’ll see. Rumours about me joining BJP have been spreading since 2017,” he added.
On joining BJP, Kamat said that he would have gone long back if he wanted to go.
“No one can stop me. But still, I led the party from the front; I went all out. And suddenly, they changed me from LoP when the results came in. I don’t know why he made such a statement. I’m in Congress; you can see my performance,” Kamat added.
Dinesh Gundu Rao accused Congress MLA Digambar Kamat of “conspiring” with the BJP leaders to engineer defections; BJP maintains that it is ignorant of allegations levelled on it by Rao that the BJP is behind the alleged attempt to poach Congress MLAs.
