QUEPEM: Quepem MLA Alton D’Costa and former MLA Kavlekar seem to be at loggerheads once again over constituency development.
The fresh argument has started with the former MLA giving suggestions for development works.
D’Costa claimed that he was capable of bringing development to his constituency without any suggestions from the opposition.
“I will work for the betterment of Quepem constituency. I don’t need the defeated candidate to teach me what I have to do. I will try to give basic amenities to the people of Quepem Constituency,” said D’Costa while inaugurating the Borewell at Bushmoll – Barcem.
PWD AE Vasuraj Karmalkar, JE Siddhesh Pauskar and others were present for the inauguration.
Speaking further, D’Costa said that the people of this village have been suffering from water shortage for the last several years, especially in the last 20 years.
He also said that a politician came and tried to inaugurate the scheme project a few days ago.
“I would like to say that I was elected by the people by about 4000 votes, and we do not want to politicize such a thing. I don’t like to make politics on any issue,” said D’Costa.
Politicians don’t have to tell anyone in my constituency what I have to do, D’costa added.
Vasuraj Karmalkar, Assistant Engineer, Water Supply Office, PWD said the office has facilitated water supply to the village with the help of borewells and wells and springs.
“…but in some areas, the water level was low, and the water pressure was low. That’s why people are facing scarcity of water. But now, with the help of solar panels and hand pumps, the water will be pressurized, which will help villagers get a proper water supply,” he said.
