BICHOLIM: The Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) Goa has claimed that their priority is to increase fodder production and vegetable production in the state.
“I have recently joined as director in the state and my first priority will be to increase fodder and vegetable production in the state” Director, Praveen Kumar said.
As per the ICAR about 75 percent of the fodder and vegetables are being brought from the neighbouring states. “Major fodder and vegetables are being brought either from Maharastra or Karnataka. I am having some new concepts and if we implement them we would be able to increase the production in the state” he claimed.
“We have recently released a seed unit and we are multiplying the seeds of major vegetables. We are also getting seeds from other ICAR of the country and we believe that we would be able to increase the fodder and vegetables in the state” he said.
He claimed that right now we have 75 coastal districts and they are developing the vulnerable map of the country. “After this we would be in a better position to deal with natural disasters and that contingency training will be given to the farmers so that loss can be minimized,” he said.
