New Delhi: India’s Smriti Mandhana continues to hold her ground as the No. 2 ranked batter in the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, while England’s Amy Jones has made a massive leap forward following a string of remarkable performances against the West Indies.
The top three — Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa), Smriti Mandhana (India), and Nat Sciver-Brunt (England) — continue to dominate the leaderboard. However, Jones is now hot on their heels. The England wicketkeeper-batter’s rise began with a brilliant century in the first ODI of the three-match series, and she followed it up with an explosive 129-run knock off just 98 deliveries in the second match.
These back-to-back match-winning efforts not only secured England’s series win but also saw Jones jump from seventh to fourth in the ICC rankings, boasting 689 rating points — her career-best to date.
England completed a clean sweep in the ODI series, adding to their 3-0 triumph in the earlier T20I series against the West Indies. Jones was a central figure in both victories, showcasing her ability to perform consistently at the highest level.
Meanwhile, England pacer Kate Cross also made her mark. Her economical spell of 1/15 in the final ODI helped her finish the series with three wickets and move up to eighth in the ICC Women’s ODI Bowling Rankings.
With England now preparing for their upcoming tour of India, both Jones and Cross will look to build on their current form and potentially climb even higher in the global rankings.
