PORVORIM: Women and Child Development (WCD) Minister Vishwajit Rane today has appealed all MLAs to identify land to build cluster based Anganwadi across.
MLA Premendra Shet raised the issue of insurance and other benefits for anganwadi workers. He also expressed concerns about anganwadis operating from rented premises and urged the government to construct dedicated buildings for them.
“I appeal all MLAs to identify land to build cluster based Anganwadi across; 1290 anganwadi are operational & all are from rented premises,” said Rane
He further said that his department was considering increasing the honorarium.
“The last hike was in 2021; I admit there are some deficiencies & we have decided to take up through GSIDC,” he added
MLA Vijai Sardesai requested the government to increase the honorarium of anganwadi workers.
He also stated that since salaries of MLAs have been raised, it is important to also increase the honorarium of anganwadi workers and provide them with the necessary support.
