MEGA U-Turn…
“In fact, it is more related to the parking issue. The people who work in the casinos park their bikes cars everywhere, which further creates problems for the residents even to come out of their homes. Almost 90 per cent of the businessmen from Panaji had approached me and said that if Casinos were closed, these businessmen would be out of business and starve. Our main focus will be those 10 per cent of the people whose access is blocked due to haphazard parking”

PANAJI: BJP Panaji Candidate Babush Monseratte is confident of the BJP winning 27 seats and forming the government.
St Inez creek, Parking issues etc. issues are on the radar of Monseratte this time.
Speaking to the Goemkarponn during his election campaign, Babush Monseratte said, “I have been getting excellent response from the people. A few months back, there was a corporation election, they are doing a good job, that is the feedback I am getting. Basically that helps”.
Asked about contesting against Parrikar’s son Utpal, Babush said that he was a Congress candidate the last time, “therefore I see it was the Congress against BJP and no one else”.
When further questioned about Utpal Parrikar, Monseratte avoided commenting on the Utpal and added that other candidates are in the fray, but our direct fight is with the Congress party.
On surveys that are being done that this time the fight will be between Babush versus Utpal, Monseratte replied that it is just a hype made up by some.
“I feel the Congress candidate is strong; therefore, the fight will be between BJP versus Congress in Panaji. If we see in the past 30 years, the fight was between the BJP versus Congress, and it has never been the fight between any party and the independent,” he says.
About his plans for Panaji, if he gets elected, he revealed that there are a lot of things which he intends to do, since the development is a continuous process, the works mentioned in the last manifesto won’t be repeated in the fresh manifesto. Those are the works which are in the pipeline and the work is in progress.
Commenting on the issue of Casinos, wherein several people have been raising the alarm, Monseratte said that around 10 per cent of the Panaji people have got the issue with the Casinos.
Our main focus will be those 10 per cent of the people whose access is blocked due to haphazard parking,” he said.
When pointed out that the multilevel pay parking infrastructure in the city has become a white elephant, he said that as far as multilevel pay parking is concerned, this is the job of the traffic department.
“This work should be done with the traffic department in tandem with the Casino people. They should be concerned that the people working in the casinos should park their vehicles in the multilevel parking space. If they do that, then the problem will be solved. Monseratte also blamed the traffic police for failing to properly exercise their duty,” he said.
Further, when asked about his plans about St.Inez Creek, Monseratte said shortly there won’t be any mention of St Inez creek is concerned because the work has already been started on it.
When questioned whether he feels that BJP will form the government, Monseratte expressed confidence that the BJP will win 27 seats this election and we will form the government under the leadership of Dr Pramod Sawant.
