Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that the rise in COVID19 cases was due to people not maintaining social distancing and not wearing masks during ganesh festival.
Sawant said that before Ganesh the daily figures were between 150 to 200 but after one and half day Ganesh continuously there has been a spike of over 400.
“This means that we have not adhered to social distancing mask and sanitisers that is why Corona virus is transmitting. We have to maintain social distance,” he said.
He said the people have to maintain social distance and he too is doing so.
“My securities tell people to stay away only because if they come close to me and sneeze even I can get Corona. People feel bad but it is duty of security. If I get infected the State administration may suffer,” he said.
