PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that for tribal youth to be empowered and able to compete with the rest of society, they must have access to high-quality education.
Sawant stated at the Adivasi Sammelan that the government would encourage tribal youngsters in any way possible, including by giving them money to pursue high-quality education.
According to him, education provides a level playing field for all societal segments, particularly for indigenous populations, who have demonstrated tremendous potential. “But many tribal youth lack appropriate guidance, which prevents them from taking full advantage of government opportunities and schemes,” he stated.
In response, he said, the government has been providing interest-free loans to students so they can study in Goa and beyond. According to Sawant, tribal students would get extra help from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, tribal welfare programs, and local MLAs if they still encountered problems.
