MARGAO: In a significant development in the ongoing tussle over control of Anjuman Islahul Muslameen (AIM), Margao, the Inspector General of Societies (South Goa) has issued an interim order restraining both rival groups from operating as the Society’s Managing Committee until the next hearing scheduled for October 14, 2025.
Inspector General (South), Kiran Mesta, directed that neither faction shall undertake any activity on behalf of AIM, including financial or administrative transactions, or represent the Society in any manner. He further ordered that all records of the institution must remain untouched and free from tampering or interference until further directions.
The case stems from a complaint lodged by Imtiyaz Bepari, who claims to be a founding member of AIM, against current President Ashraf Pandial. Bepari has accused Pandial of improperly securing a fourth consecutive term as president and alleged irregularities, including the unlawful locking of the headmaster’s cabin.
While the hearing had already been scheduled for October 14 at 4:30 pm in the chamber of the District Registrar (South), Osia Complex, Margao, the Inspector General passed the interim order to safeguard the functioning of the educational institution and ensure preservation of official records.
“Internal disputes should not be allowed to disrupt the educational process. Records must be maintained without any dishonest tampering or interference,” the order stated, warning that failure of either party to attend the scheduled hearing would result in the proceedings continuing ex parte.
