Seraulim: An illegal dhirio (bullfighting) event was disrupted at Seraulim on Wednesday after authorities moved to inspect the site following instructions from the Collector.
According to sources, the illegal event was underway when the Mamlatdar was deputed to carry out an inspection. However, upon learning about the Mamlatdar’s impending arrival, the organisers reportedly fled the spot, abandoning the event midway.
Residents have alleged that illegal dhirio events are being conducted openly and repeatedly in areas such as Colva, Benaulim and Seraulim, despite a clear ban on such activities. The frequent occurrence of these events has raised serious concerns among locals.
The incident has once again highlighted questions over enforcement, with residents demanding to know why strict action is not being taken against those organising illegal bullfighting events in these areas. Locals have urged the authorities and police to intensify vigilance and initiate firm action to curb such banned activities.
