PANAJI: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that illegal hotels providing substandard services would be strictly dealt with as per law.
“Illegal hotels provide substandard services, bring disrepute and also cause loss to the State Exchequer. This cannot be permitted and will be dealt with strictly as per law,” said Khaunte.
He further said that Goa Tourism aims to provide the best tourism services to our guests.
The minister said he had asked the tourism director to take action against these 11,000 hotels about whom the association has filed a formal complaint.
The state tourism department has already asked all the establishments to link themselves with the department’s portal, he said.
“While, on the one hand, the genuine business owners conduct their trade by paying all taxes, we cannot allow violators to operate by bypassing the laws. The state cannot bear the leakage of revenue due to violations. Those who are involved in illegal businesses must face the music,” the Minister said.
Khaunte said that the department has already started acting against the violations in the coastal belt.
Welcoming the launch of Pink Autorickshaw services, Khaunte said that this Entrepreneurial Initiative run By Women, For Women will generate employment and also create a feeling of ease and safety for our womenfolk.
