VERNA: Verna Police have registered an offence against two individuals from Cansaulim after they were allegedly found operating an illegal slaughter house and subjecting animals to cruelty.
The case was filed on the basis of a complaint submitted by Raj Pratik, an officer with the District Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), South Goa.
According to the complaint, on November 15, 2025, before 8:00 pm, accused Abdul Bepari and Shabbir Bepari, both residents of Cansaulim, were reportedly running an illegal slaughter setup at Tontem Morod, Cansaulim.
During the inspection, officials found three buffaloes tied near the shed, kept without adequate food or water, and allegedly intended for slaughter.
The SPCA officer stated that the conditions and treatment of the animals amounted to cruelty under relevant provisions of law.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar of Verna Police Station.
