Margao: In a suspected case of illegal animal slaughter, the Margao Town Police have booked one person for allegedly butchering two bulls and preparing to transport the meat without proper authorization in Navelim.
As per the complaint filed by Bhagwan Redkar, a resident of Rumdamol, Margao, the incident took place on July 31, prior to 11:00 PM, behind the Government Primary School in Telaulim, Sinquetim, Navelim. The accused, identified as Haider Bepari of Sinquetim Navelim, is alleged to have illegally slaughtered two bulls and stored the freshly cut meat in a pickup vehicle for transportation.
Additionally, one live bull was reportedly found tied near the vehicle without an ear tag or adequate shelter, raising further concerns about animal cruelty and violations of livestock transport regulations.
Police have registered an offence, and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Subhash Gaonkar of Margao Town Police Station.
