CANACONA: Amidst the claims and counter-claims of illegal felling of trees and illegal processing of the same at the government owned Carpentry Unit, a truck is seen moving out large quantity of processed wood/tember from Carpentry Unit at Idhar-Loliem on Friday.
On seeing a truck bearing registration no.GA09 T-5101 loading some proceesed wood/Timber, some passersby south to question the loaders, who besides informing they are sent bring the the processed wood, refused to divulge who has sent them and why they are lifting-away the illegal wood processed at the carpentry unit and now under investigation.
Posting a video, Janardhan Bhandari and Vikas Bhagat informed someone is trying to clear the illegal wood logs and other already processed Timber from the Carpentry unit without conducting enquiry and investigation.
‘Yes,we have exposed involvement of Canacona MLA Tawadkar in illegal cutting and transportation of trees with evidence but no action taken by any authority till now. Now illegal woods at the Saw Mill (Carpentry unit) are being hurriedly shifted from the spot to destroy evidence and to hide involvement of Canacona MLA.
According to sources, most of the wooden logs which were confirmed as illegal by incharge of the carpentry unit and were without numbering are now found/noticed mostly numbered. ‘This ithe act of some one trying to save their skin, but government and authorities should take note of such cover-up actions’, informed Bhagat.
