PANAJI: The government-appointed scrutiny committee to review the Outline development plans of Calangute-Candolim, Arpora-Nagoa and Vasco have submitted their report, with detailed observations and recommendations to the town and country planning board headed by the Minister Vishwajit Rane.
Speaking to reporters post-meeting, Rane said that in ODPs of Calangute-Candolim, Arpora-Nagoa- Parra, a total of 16.94 lakh sqft land is converted.
He said that the TCP board, which will be meeting in the next ten days, will finalize the report and remove all non-development zones, tenanted lands, and low-lying areas converted in the plan.
“There are instances where changes are made in the ODP after the plans were approved by the government, ” Rane said.
“This is a fit case for the investigation by the necessary authorities,” he added.
The Minister said that government will see that illegality that has been done will reach its logical end.
“This illegality done in ODPs is a shameful act, and anybody trying to defend this should put their head in the bucket and do suicide,” he said while refusing to name anyone, including LoP Michael Lobo.
Rane said that process will now be initiated to prepare fresh ODPs for Mapusa, and Panaji, which were in the draft stage earlier. He said that the same committee would work on the plan.
The TCP board decided to amend the Act to make industry people permanent members of the board.
