BICHOLIM: The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Bicholim Branch, installed its new executive committee for the year 2026 at a function held on Monday.
The installation ceremony was conducted by senior IMA Bicholim member Dr Pradip Padwal.
The newly installed office-bearers include Dr Shekhar Salkar as President, Dr Vikas Shirodkar as Secretary and Dr Sanjay Bandekar as Treasurer. Dr Dinesh Amonkar was appointed as State Representative, while Dr Pradip Padwal will serve as Council Representative. Dr Kalpana Chodankar has been named Representative to the District Medical Council (DMC), and Dr Punam Bandodkar will take charge as Coles Coordinator.
In his acceptance speech, Dr Shekhar Salkar thanked all IMA Bicholim members for electing his team unopposed for the third consecutive term.
Outlining the focus for the year, he said the association will work towards creating awareness among kindergarten teachers and parents to help identify children with special needs at an early stage.
He added that early identification would enable such children to be integrated into the mainstream while also helping nurture and train them in their special skills.
The programme concluded with an assurance from the new committee to actively engage in medical, social and awareness initiatives during the year.
