PANAJI: With the powerful message, “Hugging does not spread HIV — it spreads love for each other,” a heart-warming healthcare initiative was conducted at 2:30 pm at the Human Touch Foundation, Agacaim, Goa Velha.
The programme was organised by IMA Bicholim, with the support of the Rotary Club of Dona Paula, under which 14 children living with HIV, aged between 9 and 14 years, were given HPV vaccination. The vaccination is a vital preventive measure against cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases.
The vaccines were administered by Dr Shekhar Salkar and Dr Ellain, whose compassionate and child-friendly approach helped ensure a comfortable and reassuring experience for the children.
The programme was held in the presence of RCDP President Rtn Azeema Kulkarni, along with the committed support staff of Manipal Hospital Goa, whose cooperation was instrumental in the smooth conduct of the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shekhar Salkar, President of IMA Bicholim, praised the Human Touch Foundation for its dedicated and tireless work in caring for children living with HIV and for creating an environment built on dignity, acceptance and hope. He also appreciated the Rotary Club of Dona Paula for its continuous efforts towards cervical cancer eradication through HPV vaccination.
The initiative highlighted how medical expertise, social commitment and compassion can come together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children.
