PANAJI: Indian Medical Association Goa State Unit today has appealed for strict civil and judicial reforms to curb violence and crimes against medical professionals in state of Goa
IMA Goa Branch has also submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
“In the wake of heinous crime against a fellow member of our medical fraternity in R.G Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata we the Indian Medical Association Goa State is aghast dismayed at increase of crimes against medical professionals across the country, we hereby bring to your notice the following issues for your cognizance and urgent redressal,” it said
IMA Goa has demanded review of medical facilities across the state for workplace security and safety of healthcare professionals and rectification and amendments in laws and guidelines governing the safety of medical professionals.
Further it has requested sensitization of law enforcement agencies on medical legal jurisprudence and safety of medical professionals.
“Provisions to fast-track cases of violence and crimes against medical professionals.District level Special task force under the Police department for handling crimes and violence against medical professionals in state of Goa,” IMA Goa Branch said
