PANAJI: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Goa State has presented its year-long programme focusing on neurodiversity in children to the State Health Department, with an emphasis on early detection, awareness and timely intervention.
State President of IMA Goa, Dr Shradha Mulgaoker Patil, along with State Secretary Dr Abhijit Shanbhag, met Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and briefed him on the Association’s initiatives aimed at supporting neurodiverse children across Goa through structured outreach for schools, parents and caregivers.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said, “Ensuring strong, inclusive, and future-ready healthcare for every child—anchored in early awareness and timely intervention—remains a key priority for the State. The IMA’s focus on neurodiversity will help identify children early and connect them with the right care, which can make a real difference in their lives.”
He added that collaborative efforts between the government and professional medical bodies were essential to building an inclusive healthcare system for children.
The meeting was held in the presence of Dr Rajesh Patil, Medical Superintendent of Goa Medical College, and Dr Rajnanda Dessai, Officer on Special Duty to the Health Department. The proposed programmes will include awareness drives, screening and referral mechanisms to ensure better outcomes for neurodiverse children across the state.
