PANAJI: The southwest monsoon remains active over Goa, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) extending a yellow alert for the State until October 2.
Officials said the withdrawal of monsoon has stalled, with the retreat line still positioned over Gujarat, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
Goa, meanwhile, has witnessed intense rainfall over the past two days, and similar showers are expected to continue at isolated locations in the coming days.
Fishermen have been cautioned against venturing into the sea due to rough conditions.
According to the IMD, squally weather with wind speeds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, is likely along and off the coasts of Gujarat, South Konkan, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep, as well as over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Comorin region.
For the current monsoon season, Goa has recorded 3,082.8 mm of rainfall — about three per cent above the normal seasonal average of 2,992.4 mm.
