PANAJI: Indian Meteurological Centre (IMD) in its forecast has said that Goa will witness heavy rainfall of 6.4 cms till September 29.
“Yesterday’s Deep Depression over South Odisha-Chhattisgarh weakened into a Depression, moved west-northwestwards &lay centered at 0830 hrs IST of 28th September 2021over southwest Vidarbha & neighbourhood. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken into a Well Marked Low-Pressure Area during next 06 hours,” the IMD forcast states
The IMD has further stated that with west-north westwards movement of system, Heavy rainfall (rainfall>6.4cm in 24hrs) very likely at one or two places over North&South Goa districts on 28th&29th September.
“Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea on 28th & 29th,”\
The total rainfall amount is likely around 100-150 mm with locally exceeding 200 mm. Accordingly, IMD has placed Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa under a red alert for today.
“The system is likely to emerge into the northeast Arabian Sea & adjoining Gujarat coast around 30th September and there is the likelihood for the system to further intensity over the northeast Arabian Sea during the subsequent 24 hours,”IMD said
