PONDA: The locals in City as well in village Panchayats complain of rise in stray cattle menace on road and had demanded to shift them at Goshalas for their proper care and maintanance.
This will also prevent accidents on road due to free roaming of cattles on road. Sanket Narvekar who is working for welfare of stray cattle had submitted memorandum to Kavlem Panchayat asking to either erect cattle shed for stray cattle or impound and send them to Goshala with signing MOU.
He said that the cattle are seen near blind curves in the middle of the road, including areas The rising number of stray cattle on the main roads and in the interior areas of Ponda taluka and three Bypass roads of NH are posing a threat to the lives of motorists, especially two-wheeler riders.
Sanket Narvekar said despite Court directions except few Many Panchayat failed to take care of stray cattles. He said Panchayats should set up cattle sheds or shift them to Goshalas.
He said he is working around fifteen years for the sake of stray animals and urged government and Panchayat bodies to lift and send the stray cattles at Goshalas.
He said there are several Goshalas working in Goa and local bodies should tie up with them for taking care of cattles who are starving for food and also inviting accidents by taking shelter on road.
Kavlem Panchayat secretary Mayur Gaonkar assured Narvekar to look into matter to solve stray cattle issue.
