PANAJI: Speaker of the Goa legislative assembly and prominent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ramesh Tawadkar expressed his displeasure with the state’s current state of affairs citing a number of issues that have been covered by the media over the past few days.
He also said he was not happy with the performance of some of the state’s cabinet ministers.
“I wonder if some ministers are truly serving the public interest or just their own interests when I witness particular occurrences. “When ministers and chief ministers only work for themselves, what will happen to the people and the MLAs?” he said.
According to Tawadkar, the state of affairs in Goa, which is being covered by the media on a daily basis, is depressing.
“What good is it to be in a position of authority if we are unable to comprehend the feelings of the average person? This is really hurtful to me as a sensitive, social, and political ‘karyakarta,'” he remarked.
The top-ranking BJP official made it clear that he has no rivals. With the duty my party has given me up to this point, I have always done everything in my power to help the last members of society. I promised to work 365 days a year as a speaker, and I’m still doing what I love, which is to help regular people in society,” he stated.
The Speaker claimed to be a “samajik karyakarta,” with a foundation in a number of social programs, including the Lokostav and Shramdham initiatives.
Additionally, Tawadkar defended the decisions he made in the disqualification case against eight MLAs who defected from the Congress to the BJP. Both those who are adopting them and those who are defecting, he argued, had to be aware of the limitations of this type of politics.
“No one is saying or asking anything to him,” he remarked, expressing his displeasure with Minister Govind Gaude for repeatedly making derogatory remarks against the Speaker of the legislative assembly.
“No one questioned Gaude when he made such remarks about the Speaker in front of the Chief Minister. I have brought up this matter with the party leadership and the chief minister. In this sense, I anticipate action shortly,” he stated.
