PANAJI: INDI Alliance partner MLA’s and Leaders in Goa today gathered at Azad Maidan over arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The leaders were stopped form entering the premises of Azad Maidan claiming that it was a violation of Election code of conduct. However, later they were allowed to address the media.
Addressing the media, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Yuri Alemao said that this dictatorship attitude of the BJP should stop and there should be free and fair elections.
“It’s like a cricket match, our bank accounts are frozen. BJP is ready with bat and pads but we don’t have anything and they are asking us to play a cricket match,” said Alemao.
He further said that he was confident that people will put the right delivery at the right time and stump the BJP.
“People are with INDI Alliance, basically the BJP and NDA are scared. The people are watching. Under INDI alliance banner, opposition will crush the BJP,” he added.
Alemao also said that nothing stops Arvind Kejriwal from the running the Delhi government and there is no provision in constitution that stops him from running the government from jail.
AAP Goa President Advocate Amit Palekar said that
Enforcement Directorate (ED) is fabricating the evidence against the AAP and the agency has nothing to support its allegations.
“While the Congress and the BJP were spending lakhs of Rupees on their workers, the AAP workers toiled voluntarily for the party due to the honest politics that we have been supporting,” he said.
he AAP leader said that he and all their candidates are ready to face any inquiry by any agency.
Palekar said that the AAP Goa unit is firmly behind Mr. Kejriwal and will fight back “attempts by BJP to target their party”.
Goa Forward Party (GFP) MLA Vijai Sardesai termed the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as unprecedented when Election code of conduct is in force.
“This is not a new case, it’s an old case. If they wanted to Arrest Kejriwal then they could have done it earlier but he was arrested after code of conduct was implemented,” Vijai said.
He further said that BJP has promised this and that guarantee but they have not promised whether democracy will prevail or not.
“There should be a level playing field in politics. Today BJP is playing biased politics and lately or sooner they will also have to face the same,” he added.
