New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday described India as a global centre of goodwill and social harmony, emphasising that the country’s civilisational foundation rests on a deep sense of unity and shared belonging rather than transactional relationships.
Addressing a Samajik Sadbhav gathering organised as part of the centenary year celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Bhagwat said Indian society has historically evolved through interconnectedness and mutual respect. The event was held at Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium in Taramandal under the Goraksh province unit of the organisation.
He noted that in several parts of the world, relationships are often shaped by exchange and self interest. In contrast, he said, India’s social fabric is woven around a feeling of belonging and collective identity. According to him, this enduring cultural outlook has enabled the country to nurture harmony despite its vast diversity.
Bhagwat stressed that India’s ethos promotes goodwill and mutual acceptance, forming the basis of its social structure. He maintained that the idea of oneness remains central to the nation’s character and continues to guide its approach to community life.
Referring to the country’s wide ranging customs, attire and traditions, he said such differences have never weakened the underlying unity of Indian society. Instead, he asserted, cultural diversity has flourished within a broader framework of shared values and civilisational continuity.
The RSS chief reiterated that India’s identity is grounded in harmony and collective coexistence, which he described as the defining strength of its civilisation.
