New Delhi: India has expressed deep concern over the rapidly escalating conflict in West Asia, calling on all parties involved to avoid further escalation and place the safety of civilians at the forefront. Responding to the latest developments, the Ministry of External Affairs emphasised the need for restraint, dialogue, and diplomatic engagement to prevent the situation from spiralling further out of control.
In an official statement, the ministry urged all sides to de escalate tensions through peaceful means and stressed that respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations remains essential for long term regional stability. India underlined that sustained dialogue is the only viable path to address underlying issues and avoid widespread humanitarian consequences.
The government also confirmed that Indian missions across the region are actively monitoring the situation. Diplomatic posts have established contact with Indian nationals and issued advisories asking them to remain vigilant, stay connected with missions, and strictly follow local security instructions. Authorities said these measures were precautionary given the uncertain security environment.
Tensions sharply escalated after a series of explosions were reported in Tehran early Saturday following what Israel described as pre emptive military strikes against Iran. The strikes marked a significant intensification of hostilities after months of mounting friction involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
Israel confirmed carrying out the attacks, stating that the operation was aimed at neutralising threats to its national security. Israeli authorities also activated air raid sirens in Tel Aviv and declared a state of emergency amid fears of retaliatory missile strikes. Security forces were placed on high alert as preparations were made for potential escalation.
Adding to the volatility, US President Donald Trump announced that American forces had joined the military campaign, describing the operations as major combat actions within Iran. He suggested that the unfolding situation could result in significant political change in Tehran and appealed directly to the Iranian public as joint operations continued.
As the conflict widens, India reiterated its consistent position that diplomacy, restraint, and protection of civilian lives must guide all actions in an increasingly fragile regional landscape.
