Panaji: India Legends completed a memorable campaign by winning the Asian Legend Cup 2026 with a convincing five wicket victory over Bangladesh Legends in the final played at the BCA Ground in Thailand. The team produced a disciplined performance with both bat and ball to lift the prestigious title.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh Legends chose to bat first but found it difficult to build momentum against a tight Indian bowling attack. They were restricted to 123 for 8 in their 20 overs. Najmuj Sadat top scored with a steady 22, while Sadiqur Rahman contributed 21. Intyiaj Hossain showed intent with a quick 21, yet frequent fall of wickets prevented any meaningful partnerships.
India bowlers maintained control from the early stages. Kapil Rana and Kalim Khan led the attack with two wickets each, putting pressure on the Bangladesh middle order. Amardeep Sonkar delivered an impressive spell, conceding only six runs in three overs and taking a wicket, while Goa player Madar Basappa provided an important breakthrough. Alert fielding further strengthened India position and resulted in two crucial run outs.
Chasing 124 for victory, India Legends faced a shaky start as Bhanu Seth, Narendra Meena and Kalim Khan were dismissed cheaply. Bangladesh fought back through former international Alok Kapali, who produced a spirited spell and claimed four wickets to briefly revive his side hopes.
The match turned in India favour thanks to a composed innings from Deepak. He anchored the chase with maturity, rotating the strike well and capitalising on loose deliveries to remain unbeaten on 74. Captain Jatin Saxena offered solid support with an unbeaten 21, and the pair shared a decisive partnership that carried India across the target in 18.4 overs.
Bangladesh bowlers tried hard to defend the modest total, but the lack of runs ultimately proved decisive. Once the final runs were scored, celebrations broke out in the Indian camp as the side sealed a well deserved championship victory, underlining their dominance throughout the tournament.
