PANAJI: The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, celebrated its 43rd Foundation Day today with a high-profile event held at the institute’s auditorium. The occasion was graced virtually by the Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, and attended in person by a 16-member high-level delegation from the Government of Goa, led by Secretary (Industries), Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS.
The Foundation Day event witnessed the participation of eminent dignitaries including Dr. Piruz Khambatta, Chairman of Rasna Group and Honorary Consul General of South Korea (Gujarat); Shri Dinesh Singh Rawat, Chief General Manager & Zonal Head (Ahmedabad Zone), IDBI Bank Ltd., and EDII Governing Board Member; Shri B.S. Pai Angle, Managing Director, EDC Ltd., Goa; and senior representatives of EDII including Director General Shri Sunil Shukla, Shri Satya Acharya, and Shri Raman Gujral.
Addressing the gathering virtually, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant extended his congratulations to EDII on completing 43 years of excellence in entrepreneurship development. He lauded Gujarat’s growth model and recognized EDII’s role in shaping India’s entrepreneurial landscape. “EDII has played a key role in helping us believe in the potential of entrepreneurship. It has shown how entrepreneurial traits and competencies can be learned, developed, and scaled,” he said.
Dr. Sawant highlighted Goa’s commitment to creating a strong startup ecosystem aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat. He emphasized the role of policy support, infrastructure, and institutions like the EDII-Goa Centre and EDC Ltd. in nurturing entrepreneurial talent, especially among youth and rural communities.
Guest of Honour Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, echoed the Chief Minister’s sentiments, stating, “The message from our Chief Minister is clear—Goa is eager to learn from EDII and collaborate across various fronts.” He commended EDII for its inclusive approach to entrepreneurship development, reaching both urban and rural populations, and helping to transform livelihoods. “Goa, with its blend of culture, creativity, and commerce, is fast emerging as one of the most progressive states,” he added.
Dr. Piruz Khambatta highlighted entrepreneurship as a crucial tool for socio-economic growth and applauded EDII for being a pioneer in promoting entrepreneurship, skill development, innovation, and market expansion long before these became national priorities. “Entrepreneurship is a pillar of Viksit Bharat, and EDII’s vision has always aligned with this mission,” he noted.
The EDII-Goa Centre, in collaboration with EDC Ltd., continues to play a crucial role in fostering entrepreneurial spirit among all sections of society. Anchipaka emphasized that entrepreneurship is now being embraced as a preferred career option, and with institutions like EDII, the momentum will only accelerate further.
