New Delhi: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday said India is increasingly being viewed as a trusted and reliable global partner at a time of widespread geopolitical and economic uncertainty. Addressing audiences at the World Economic Forum in Davos, he said India ranks among the top countries the world looks to for stable policies, clear decision making and long term economic reliability.
Vaishnaw noted that leaders and policymakers from across regions see India as a dependable partner, as well as a co developer and co creator in global growth initiatives. He said conversations at Davos reflected strong confidence in India’s economic direction and policy consistency, particularly in an era marked by turbulence and shifting global alliances.
According to the minister, India’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as a central topic of discussion among global leaders in Switzerland. He said the Indian delegation has been actively engaging at key meetings to explain how the country is combining technological advancement with inclusive and equitable growth. The focus, he added, has been on demonstrating that economic expansion in India is designed to benefit all sections of society.
Vaishnaw said discussions across multiple forums at Davos have centred on India’s development trajectory, leadership in emerging technologies and commitment to reforms that strengthen infrastructure, manufacturing and digital transformation. He added that India’s presence at Davos 2026 has been strongly felt, with the delegation participating in wide ranging interactions on policy innovation, industrial growth and future ready economic models.
He pointed out that India’s engagement has also extended to strategic sectors such as critical minerals, which are becoming increasingly important amid rising global demand and geopolitical risks. In this context, the United States has announced India’s participation in the inaugural Critical Minerals Ministerial scheduled for February 4. The initiative aims to enhance global cooperation and build secure, diversified and resilient supply chains.
Discussions at Davos also highlighted vulnerabilities in existing mineral supply chains and the need for trusted partners to address them. Senior international officials and private sector leaders underscored India’s growing role in supporting economic growth, technological leadership and the global energy transition.
Vaishnaw said India’s consistent policies, reform driven approach and expanding global engagement are positioning the country as a key player in shaping future economic and strategic frameworks worldwide.
