New Delhi: India has strengthened its security network following intelligence assessments warning of possible Pakistan backed terror activity targeting major locations such as Mumbai, Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir. Authorities believe the threat may be linked to rising instability within Pakistan, where escalating conflicts and internal unrest are creating conditions that security planners consider potentially dangerous for regional stability.
Officials have directed multiple security agencies across the country to intensify monitoring and preventive action. In Mumbai, teams from the Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad conducted coordinated raids at several locations in Kurla and Govandi. The searches focused on residences linked to individuals suspected of radicalisation toward a banned organisation, and several people are currently being questioned as part of the investigation.
Along the Line of Control, the Indian Army intercepted an infiltration attempt in the Bhimber Gali sector during the early hours of March 4. Troops detected suspicious movement near the border and responded quickly, preventing the infiltrators from crossing into Indian territory. Additional forces have since been deployed in the area, while ground and aerial surveillance systems are being used to maintain close monitoring.
Authorities have maintained a heightened state of alert across sensitive sectors in the region. Military units have been repositioned to maintain constant operational dominance along the border.
In Srinagar, senior officials from the civil administration and police held a high level security review to assess the evolving situation. Security forces were instructed to remain vigilant and take all necessary steps to maintain public order and safety. Military commanders from the Northern Command also held discussions with formation commanders and other agencies to coordinate preparedness.
The security alert comes at a time when Pakistan is facing tensions with Afghanistan along the Durand Line following cross border airstrikes and retaliatory clashes. Simultaneously, insurgent violence has escalated in Balochistan, where militants linked to the Baloch Liberation Army have launched coordinated attacks across multiple districts in recent weeks.
Security planners believe mounting pressure on Pakistan’s military establishment and internal security challenges could increase the likelihood of attempts to escalate tensions through cross border militant activity targeting India.
