New Delhi: The defence partnership between India and the United States is strengthening steadily and playing a vital role in maintaining stability across the Indo Pacific region, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said following a high level visit to the Indian Army’s Western Command headquarters.
The ambassador, accompanied by Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, Commander of the US Indo Pacific Command, held detailed discussions with Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar regarding evolving security dynamics along India’s Western Front. The visit underscored the growing strategic coordination between the two militaries.
During the interaction, the delegation received a comprehensive briefing on the operational readiness of the Western Command. Officials highlighted the formation’s legacy, its execution of Operation Sindoor, and the broader role played by the Indian Army in supporting nation building efforts and contributing to regional stability. The discussions also focused on current security assessments and collaborative approaches to emerging challenges.
Ambassador Gor described the engagement as productive and reaffirmed that close cooperation between the two nations is central to ensuring a secure and open Indo Pacific. He emphasised that sustained collaboration reflects the deepening trust and alignment of strategic interests between Washington and New Delhi.
Admiral Paparo earlier characterised the bilateral defence relationship as being on a sharply rising path. He noted that both countries share a common objective of preserving peace through strength and are committed to enhancing coordination across multiple domains. Particular attention is being directed towards expanding maritime cooperation, reflecting shared interests in safeguarding sea lanes and promoting regional security.
The visit to the Western Command marks another step in the expanding defence dialogue between the two democracies, reinforcing their commitment to closer military engagement and a stable Indo Pacific order.
