Bengaluru: In a testament to strengthening bilateral relations, India and the United States conducted an intensive joint training phase as part of Exercise Tiger Triumph 2025 at the Duvvada Firing Range from April 2 to April 4. This collaboration underscores their commitment to enhancing military cooperation, interoperability, and operational preparedness, reflecting the deepening strategic partnership between the two nations.
At the heart of this exercise was a collaborative approach, highlighted by the joint opening address by the commanding officers of both Indian and U.S. contingents. This set the stage for a high-impact engagement, emphasizing mutual understanding and cooperation. The Indian contingent was represented by the 8 Gorkha Rifles Infantry Battalion Group, which is part of the Amphibious Brigade under the Sudarshan Chakra Corps. The U.S. contingent included personnel from the 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment and the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 11th Infantry Division.
Rear Admiral Greg Newkirk, USN, actively participated in live-firing drills and Jungle Lane Shooting exercises alongside the Commanding Officer of the 8 Gorkha Rifles Infantry Battalion Group. This hands-on leadership underscored the emphasis on practical engagement and mutual learning. The training covered a range of skills, including small arms marksmanship, jungle warfare tactics, and Integrated Field Craft training. Troops were paired as buddy teams for live-firing drills and close-quarters combat shooting, fostering a sense of camaraderie and shared operational knowledge.
The exercise served as a significant milestone in reinforcing the India-US strategic partnership, enhancing their combined ability to respond effectively to regional security challenges and humanitarian crises. Through Tiger Triumph 2025, both nations solidified their commitment to shared goals, bolstering trust and mutual respect among their troops.
