New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday described illegal immigration as a serious threat to national security and asserted that India will not allow unlawful entrants to exploit the country or divert resources meant for its poor. He said such individuals must be identified and sent back to their countries of origin.
Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters after Nitin Nabin was declared elected as the new national president of the party, the Prime Minister said illegal immigration poses economic, social and security challenges that cannot be ignored. He stressed that no country in the world accepts illegal immigration and that India has every right to take firm action to protect its citizens and public services.
Modi pointed out that several wealthy and influential nations have been identifying and deporting illegal immigrants without facing international criticism. He said these countries often project themselves as champions of democracy, yet take strict measures to safeguard their national interests. According to him, India should not be judged differently for adopting a similar approach.
The Prime Minister accused certain political parties of shielding illegal immigrants for electoral gains. He said such protection is driven by vote bank politics and comes at the cost of national interest and social justice. He urged party workers to expose these practices before the public and raise awareness about their long term consequences.
In addition to illegal immigration, Modi identified urban Naxals and population imbalance as major challenges confronting the nation. He claimed that urban Naxals are expanding their influence and working in an organised manner to weaken India from within. According to him, this group targets and intimidates individuals who express even occasional support for the government or its leadership.
The Prime Minister said people who speak positively about the government are often subjected to humiliation and social isolation, particularly in public platforms and media spaces. He described this as a deliberate tactic aimed at silencing dissenting voices and shaping public opinion through fear.
Recalling the past, Modi said the BJP itself was once treated as untouchable and isolated using similar methods. He added that people across the country are now beginning to recognise these tactics and see through them.
Modi concluded by calling on party members to counter such forces through organisational strength, ideological clarity and public outreach. He said defeating this nexus is essential to safeguard democracy, national unity and India’s future development.
