BENGALURU:
Anil Kumble has said that the Indian cricket team fans would want Virat Kohli to continue his IPL 2024 form in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Kohli continued to pile on the runs this season as he scored 92 off just 47 balls to help RCB win their 4th game on the trot. The star batter’s innings proved to be the difference in Dharamsala.
RCB would win the match by 60 runs as Kohli continued to rule the roost when it came to the Orange Cap standings. The RCB star currently has 634 runs in 12 matches with a strike rate of 153.51 and an average of 70.44. Kohli will be a key member of the India squad that will head to the West Indies and the USA for the T20 World Cup.
Speaking to JioCinema, Kumble said that Kohli has been in outstanding form and has been on a relentless pursuit of excellence. The former India coach is hoping that Kohli will continue his form in the upcoming ICC event.
“Yeah, absolutely. He’s been in outstanding form. He had a bit of a break coming into the IPL, and then he’s just been relentless in his pursuit of excellence. And you could see that. I mean, he’s at the top of the table there with 634 runs, and I’m sure RCB would want him to win the next two games, and hopefully, qualify. But, you know, for India’s sake, you would want this form to continue in the World Cup as well,” said Kumble.
Kohli is engaged in every single moment of every game
There was a fun moment in the game when Kohli mimicked Rilee Rossouw’s rifle celebration after he had scored his fifty. Shane Watson said that Kohli is always engaged in every single moment of the game and just wanted to take a cheeky dig at the PBKS batter.
“He’s engaged in every single moment of every game and nothing like that Rossouw had on display. And he made sure that he let Rossouw know exactly back at you. And and it was a critical time as well.”
“Kohli’s engaged in every single ball of every game, and he doesn’t miss a thing. And he certainly didn’t miss Rossouw’s celebration for his 50,” said Watson.
Kohli also showed his agility on the field when he inflicted the fantastic run-out of Shashank Singh with a fine effort. RCB will be next in action against DC at the Chinnaswamy stadium on May 12.
