New Delhi: Indian players delivered an impressive performance at the 2025 World Pickleball Championship (WPC) in Korea, marking a significant milestone for the nation in the global pickleball arena. Held from June 5 to 8 at the Seogwipo Tennis Center in Jeju-do, the Tier 3 tournament, organised by Pickleball Global, featured over 230 top athletes from across Asia, including strong contenders from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Singapore.
Among the standout performers, Kuldip Mahajan emerged as the star of the tournament, clinching two gold medals — one in the Men’s Doubles 19+ category alongside Ryan Iam from Hong Kong, and another in the Mixed Doubles 19+ category with India’s Vrushali Thakare.
India’s winning run didn’t stop there. Sonu Kumar Vishwakarma secured a silver medal in the Men’s Singles 19+ category, while Vrushali Thakare added another silver in the Women’s Doubles 19+, partnering with Angie Bong from Indonesia.
Expressing his pride, Arvind Prabhoo, President of the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA), stated:
“It is truly heartening to witness our athletes rise to the occasion and deliver such world-class performances on an international stage. These victories are not just medals—they are milestones in India’s growing stature in the global pickleball community.”
