New Delhi: The Indian Navy is set to commission ‘Androth’, the second Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam on October 6. The ceremony will be led by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command.
Built by Kolkata-based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Androth features over 80% indigenous content, showcasing India’s push for maritime self-reliance and home-grown technology. The ship’s induction is expected to strengthen the Navy’s anti-submarine capabilities, particularly in shallow and littoral waters.
Androth joins other recent additions, including Arnala, Nistar, Udaygiri, and Nilgiri, further enhancing the Navy’s operational capabilities while reflecting the spirit of Aatmanirbharta through indigenous design and construction.
