PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has hailed India’s robust economic growth of 7.8% in the April–June quarter of FY26, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for steering the nation towards sustained prosperity.
“The 7.8% GDP growth achieved in the first quarter of this financial year is a testament to the strength, resilience, and vision of our economy under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji,” Sawant said in a statement.
He noted that the strong performance across agriculture, manufacturing, construction, and services reflected the far-reaching reforms and policies introduced by the Centre. “This achievement not only surpasses global expectations but also proves beyond doubt that India is on a path of sustained progress and prosperity,” he said.
Taking a swipe at opposition leaders, the Chief Minister remarked that contrary to claims that the economy was “dead,” India was setting new benchmarks of development for the world. “From being called part of the ‘Fragile Five’ to becoming the fastest-growing economy, Modi’s leadership has redefined India’s growth story. From tackling high inflation and weak reserves, the country today boasts record forex strength, a booming manufacturing sector, and historic Sensex highs,” Sawant said.
He added that the economic momentum would open new avenues for states like Goa to expand investments and employment opportunities in coming years.
