New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India’s Gen Z is rich in creativity and innovation, adding that the country’s youth are playing a decisive role in shaping the nation’s future. He said young Indians, driven by fresh ideas, energy and a clear sense of purpose, are at the forefront of India’s journey towards development.
Speaking at the concluding session of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue in New Delhi, the prime minister described the initiative as a rapidly growing national platform that allows young people to actively contribute to policymaking and long term vision building. He noted that within a short span, the dialogue has emerged as a meaningful space for interaction between the youth and national leadership.
Referring to National Youth Day, observed every year on January 12 in memory of Swami Vivekananda, the prime minister said the dialogue draws inspiration from the values and ideas of the iconic leader, whose message continues to motivate generations of young Indians. He said the initiative was conceived to channel the spirit of youth towards the goal of building a developed India.
Highlighting government efforts, the prime minister said successive policies and schemes were introduced with a strong focus on youth empowerment. He added that these measures helped fuel India’s startup ecosystem, which has expanded rapidly in recent years and positioned the country as a global hub for innovation and entrepreneurship.
The prime minister also spoke about the rise of India’s Orange Economy, which he said is rooted in culture, creativity and content. He noted that sectors linked to art, design, media and innovation are witnessing significant growth, driven largely by young talent.
Reflecting on reforms undertaken over the past decade, he said a continuous process of policy transformation has strengthened economic and social systems, with youth power at its core. According to him, India’s progress story is closely tied to the confidence and capabilities of its young population.
The Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue is a nationwide initiative aimed at structured engagement between youth and leadership. Held from January 9 to 12, the programme saw participation from more than 50 lakh young people across the country. Participants at the national level were selected through a three stage merit based process involving a digital quiz, an essay challenge and state level presentations, ensuring wide representation and diverse perspectives.
