New Delhi: India’s youth boxing contingent produced a landmark performance at the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025 in Bahrain, clinching four gold, two silver, and one bronze medal the country’s best-ever result in the event’s history. The impressive showing made boxing India’s highest medal-winning discipline at the Games and reaffirmed the nation’s rising stature in Asian youth boxing.
In the girls’ category, India finished first overall, capturing four golds and one silver. The gold rush began with Khushi Chand (46kg), who defeated China’s Luo Jinxiu 4–1 in a commanding display of skill and control. Ahaana Sharma (50kg) followed with a dominant first-round Referee Stopped Contest (RSC) victory over Korea’s Ma Jong Hyang. Chandrika Bhoreshi Pujari (54kg) continued the winning streak, outclassing Uzbekistan’s Muhammadova Kumriniso 5–0, while Anshika (80kg) completed the golden quartet with another fine performance. Harnoor Kaur (66kg) added a silver after a closely contested final.
In the boys’ section, Lanchenba Singh Moibungkhongbam (50kg) battled hard before settling for silver against Kazakhstan’s Nurmakhan Zhumagali, while Anant Deshmukh (66kg) earned a well-deserved bronze to round off India’s tally.
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) credited the achievement to the rigorous training and preparation at NS NIS Patiala under the guidance of Head Coaches Vinod Kumar (boys) and Jitender Raj Singh (girls).
This seven-medal triumph marks a new chapter for India’s youth boxing program, underscoring the nation’s growing strength and depth in the sport.
